Recently we undertook a launch campaign for independent burger restaurant, Crafty, for their opening in St Martin’s Square, Leicester. Following a succesful pop up in winter 2014, Crafty opened on a permanent basis at the end of April. Following discussions with the owners to understand their wishes, requirements and target market, we carefully constructed a campaign to include PR coverage, compiling a VIP guestlist for 2 opening night sittings, launch night social media and post event PR. The brief was simple; create a buzz and get people talking about Crafty.
We compiled a guestlist to include local press, food and lifestyle bloggers, VIPs and general cool kids, spread over 2 sittings of 30 each on the opening night. With Crafty we could be sure of one thing; the food would be superb, so our job was to get people talking and make it a memorable experience. We encouraged all attendees to “Tweet what you eat” and constructed hashtags for the evening. With Crafty sunglasses being handed out to all guests we were certain we could expect some selfies up on Instagram too.
The evening was a huge success. Over the course of 3 hours we had 155 individual posts on Twitter with the hashtag #CraftyLaunch which gave a combined reach of over 54,000, within a week of the launch there had been 10 excellent full reviews posted online by press and influential bloggers and less than a month after opening they are rated number 2 of all restaurants in Leicester on TripAdvisor.
